Field Engineer

Your Tasks

As a field engineer at Tethys Robotics, you work tightly with R&D and our external partners. You will analyze, test, and improve our system on all levels for all conditions with methods you develop. Doing so, you will master our robots, understand the technology that makes us unique and present this to our partners and customers worldwide.  

In your role you are responsible for the following tasks:
  • Field testing the newest features and developing test methods to support reaching product readiness by piloting and experiments
  • Performing demos and trainings of our robot with partners and customers in all waters in Switzerland and abroad
  • Performing external service jobs with the drone, by piloting, collecting data and creating reports
  • Creation of manuals and guides to the robot
  • Close collaboration with R&D in system data analysis and system evaluation for quality management

Profile
  • Education: Technical background (BSc, MSc) in Mechanical-, or Electrical engineering, Computer Science, Physics or similar
  • Travelling: Open to travel. Global. On short notice, 1-3 days, ~1x per month

  • Experience in projects with ROS
  • Experience with Game Engineers / C# / Unity
  • Experience in piloting of drones

Electrical Engineer

Your Tasks

As our first full-time electrical engineer, you will play a central role in the further development of the electrical system, from the design and assembly of circuit boards as well as cabling and construction of the robot system. You will work closely with the hardware and software team. You will also write the low-level firmware for the individual components.

In your role you are primarily responsible for the following tasks:
  • Drive the development and improvement of the Tethys Robotics underwater drone
  • Wiring and assembly of the robot system in collaboration with the hardware team
  • Production, calibration, testing and debugging of electrical subsystems
  • Assembly and testing of printed circuit boards
  • Write Low-level firmware programming (C/C++) and coordinate interfaces with the software team
  • Preparing subsystems for certification

Profile
  • Education: Electrical engineering BSc or similar with electronics/automatic technician (EFZ) background  
  • Practical work experience:  
  • PCB design in KiCad or Altium
  • PCB manufacturing & testing
  • Programming experience with C or C++
  • Teamwork: A team player who feels comfortable in the dynamic environment of a fast-pace ever-changing start-up company
  • Independent: The ability to work independently and accurately while delivering high quality results and keeping track on a large amount of different tasks to be carried out individually
  • Pragmatism: A pragmatic and solution-orientated approach to work  
  • Languages: Business fluent in written and spoken German and English

Desired qualifications and experience:
  • STM32 microcontrollers
  • CE certification
  • Driver implementation
